Shelly's primary concerns, when she first visited Wehrkamp Dental, were fairly normal . take care of any decay present and repair her two front lateral incisors. The decay part would be easy . routine posterior, tooth colored, bonded restorations. The two front laterals had a number of options . they could simply be restored with bonded, tooth colored restorations, but this wouldn't address the irregular gum tissue levels, nor the splayed central incisors, nor the prominent left cuspid which gives the smile a lopsided "fang" effect. Ideal treatment would either involve orthodontics, bleaching, and veneers or a surgical crown lengthening, bleaching, and six veneers. Shelly initially chose the surgical crown lengthening, bleaching, and "two" veneers. It was during these treatment phases that Shelly watched the TV program "Extreme Makeover". It wasn't until Dr. Scott was trial seating the two veneers when Shelly could visualize the value of doing six veneers (two would be an improvement, but the problems with the centrals and the cuspid remained) . she asked if it was too late to change her mind.
