Mandy was involved in a playground accident in 1989
and fractured off the incisal edges of her upper central incisors.
The incisors were restored conservatively with bonded composite.
Dr. Scott straightened Mandy’s teeth with traditional braces
1991-1993. In 1995, her upper central incisors began to darken and
x-rays indicated a need for root canal therapy which Dr. Scott successfully
completed. In 1999, she wished for a more definitive solution in
both shade match and strengthening her two front teeth.
This case demonstrates the importance of a coordinated effort between
dentist and a master lab ceramist through photography to mimic special
characterization requirements necessary for natural cosmetics. |
