Before & After

Beth was never happy with her front crowns, but was hesitant to have the procedure redone not knowing if the result would be any better. The “UCR” porcelain fused to metal crowns were not only bulbous in contour, but bulbous at the margins below the tissue causing impingement and a constant irritation giving the tissue a swollen look. The color match was not even close and they lacked the characterization present in adjacent teeth.

Before

After

Dr. Scott assured her by showing photos of other completed cases and with the aid of a diagnostic wax-up which was compared to models of her present condition. The wax-up showed what the final crowns would look like in shape, contour, and incisal edge position. Her transitional crowns would be an exact replica of the wax-up and she would be able see if she liked these prior to having the final crowns made.

Beth liked the looks of the transitional crowns and the tissue was looking better already in response to the more natural contours. Dr. Scott had a master ceramist replicate the transitional crowns exactly following a shade diagram including the characterization found in her adjacent teeth. Digital photography is an indispensable aid in helping the ceramist view these characterizations. Beth loved her new smile which was enhanced by a take-home bleaching system prior to creating the new crowns.
