Before & After

Step 1

Whitney’s parents had reason for concern with the way her teeth were erupting and were looking for solutions. Whitney presented with a very large muscle pull causing space between her upper central incisors, an excess overjet due to a tongue thrust during swallowing, and a “peg” upper left lateral incisor.

Step 2

Dr. Scott closed the space between her central incisors and opened space around the “peg” lateral incisor, to equal the width of the contralateral incisor, with braces. He removed the excess muscle tissue with a surgical procedure to help prevent the space from reopening. A temporary crown was made for the “peg” lateral incisor to help maintain the space and for esthetics.

Step 3

The gum tissue around the six front teeth never reduced and which left Whitney with an appearance of short teeth and a “gummy” smile. Dr. Scott then performed a surgical crown lengthening procedure to give her teeth their proper proportions in length and width. An all porcelain Empress crown with special characterization was bonded in place bringing Whitney’s smile to a natural finish. This case took some time, but I think you would agree … the end was worth the effort.
