Crown Lengthening in Brandon

woman wearing blue suitMany people with excess gum display are unhappy with their smile but unaware of treatment options available.  Teeth in these situations often appear short or stubby; as long as they are wide.  There are basically four conditions where excess gum tissue is present:

There isn’t a predictable procedure for the short or hyperactive lip.  Botox can help the hyperactive lip, but the effects are not predictable nor are they permanent.  Dental alveolar extrusion and vertical maxillary excess can be treated, but involve Orthodontists and/or Oral Surgeons for correction.

The good news is the majority of these cases are due to altered passive eruption.  This condition develops from teeth erupting into a normal position, but abnormal bone and tissue coverage of the teeth.  Drs. Scott Wehrkamp and Mauri Heesch can differentiate and diagnose what is causing your gummy smile.  What you may not know is that beneath that overgrown soft tissue, your teeth are just waiting to be revealed.

This simple cosmetic procedure can be performed in our office, often in one visit.  We’ll talk with you about your options, what to expect during the procedure and the outcome you want to achieve.
